It is the first time for Kenya women to Qualify

Kenya women’s football team Harambee Starlets edged out Algeria, Lady Fennecs, to qualify for the Africa Women Championship set to be held in Cameroun, starting on November 2016.

The
brave Harambee Starlets claimed their rightful place in Kenya's football
history books after securing the dream ticket to the 2016 Women's African Cup
of Nations for the first time ever. The Starlets had to fought extra hard having conceded a goal in
the first half which seemed to dime Kenya chances. And that chance and determination
came at 75th min when substitute Cheris Avila looped over Algeria
defence a powerful shot that went straight to the net, this sparked off wild
cerebrations from hundreds of fan who were in the stadium.
President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated the ladies using his Twitter handle:-
"Congratulations Harambee Starlets for writing a chapter in our football history by qualifying for the 2016 Women Africa Cup of Nations,"wrote President .

Starlet
could have gone ahead at 15th min when Jereko Mwanahalime fire a
bullet shot to the net, but she was flagged offside. Much of first half,
Scarlet had many chances missed with Atieno rattling the woodwork at 27th
while inside the box, and Kenya captain Mary Kinuthia shooting directly to Algerian
keeper, Fedoul Nadjet.

qualified on an away goal, after the first encounter in Algeria ended in a 3-3
all and the second encounter at Kasarani Stadium, Kenya ended in 1-1 draw.
