Kenya Politicians big mouth

Kenya politicians are very interesting people, every day you will hear, read all kind of stories from them, others are facts but others are just own made up stories that will help him/her to be covered by media.

A Kenya politician will invite journalist to cover him/her in a function in his/her home area, knowing very well that there will a good crowd of people to hear him/her. Depending on which coalition he/her comes from , when invited on the podium, the politician will make sure that a bigger percentage of the speech is attacking the other coalition.

In Kenya at the moment we have two major coalition of parties, mainly the coalition of TNA(The National Alliance party of current President Uhuru kenyatta) and URP (United  Republican Party of Deputy President William Ruto),which won last general election and CORD which compromises Orange Party 9Raira Odinga ), Wiper Party (Kalonzo Musyoka)and FORD Kenya party (Moses Watengula).

Its not amazing to hear a Kenya politician saying something to attract his/her followers to an extent it can hurt other communities, but as long it's not his/her community, and the politicians wants to safe guard his elective post, he/she will attack the other party/community to and strength available. But when the same clip is aired on local media out lets, amazing you will hear the same politician denying and saying the media miss-counted him/her.

Even during major occurrence touching the national security , its not amazing to hear a politician talking recklessly just to try to win some votes.

Am disturbed especially when a leader ignores the volubility he can put our solders ,KDF who are fighting in Somalia due to his talk. When KDF cam was attacked and tens of solders killed, i was shocked to hear one of our leaders saying that " The government of the day, should equip our solders with better weapons than Al-shabab. I just wonder if he talked to give Media houses airplay or he meant what he said.

The Kenya Defence Forces is considered as one of the strongest military in the world. According to the Global Firepower Military, Kenya is ranked 46th in the world and 6th in Africa.

The top five military powers according to the website are United States, Russia, China, India and the United Kingdom (http://www.jambonewspot.com/kenya-defence-forces-ranked-46-strongest-military-in-the-world/)

The Kenyan military receives most of its supplies from the US due to its strategic location in Africa and it has a budget of $800 million. The Kenyan military has 186 tanks, 12 rocket projectors, 148 aircraft and 78 helicopters. So when a leader says that our forces are not well equipped is a big joke, it shows we have leaders who will just say anything as long his/her party is not involved.

I remember this leader blasted our military when two KDF solders were killed by gunmen who later run toward a market in Garissa. The KDF answered by bring down the market as it had  became a hiding place for Al-Shabab. Thus i just ask, does our politicians say something because its the way or just to be relevant in media.

KDF has being used all over the world by UN for peace keeping mission. In Sierra Leon, during the civil war, KDF helped to capture most of areas occupied by Foday Sankoh solders . When some of KDF solders and the leader of the contingent got surrounded and captured , after few day, the KDF solders came with a plan of how to escape, Major Phil Ashby, Royal Marine officer and three others officers were saved by KDF.Thus as long the politicians wants to keep our TV sets and radio alive, i think issues concerning Solders should be traded very carefully.

Who is smarter Thief

During a robbery, the bank robber shouted to everyone in the bank: “Don’t move. The money belongs to the State. Your life belongs to you.” Everyone in the bank laid down quietly. This is called “Mind Changing Concept” Changing the conventional way of thinking. When a lady lay on the table provocatively, the robber shouted at her: “Please be civilized! This is a robbery and not a rape!” This is called “Being Professional” Focus only on what you are trained to do! When the bank robbers returned home, the younger robber (MBA-trained) told the older robber (who has only completed Year 6 in primary school): “Big brother, let’s count how much we got.” The older robber rebutted and said: “You are very stupid. There is so much money it will take us a long time to count. Tonight, the TV news will tell us how much we robbed from the bank!” This is called “Experience.” Nowadays, experience is more important than paper qualifications! After the robbers had left, the bank manager told the bank supervisor to call the police quickly. But the supervisor said to him: “Wait! Let us take out $10 million from the bank for ourselves and add it to the $70 million that we have previously embezzled from the bank”. This is called “Swim with the tide.” Converting an unfavorable situation to your advantage!
The supervisor says: “It will be good if there is a robbery every month.” This is called “Killing Boredom.” Personal Happiness is more important than your job. The next day, the TV news reported that $100 million was taken from the bank. The robbers counted and counted and counted, but they could only count $20 million. The robbers were very angry and complained: “We risked our lives and only took $20 million. The bank manager took $80 million with a snap of his fingers. It looks like it is better to be educated than to be a thief!” This is called “Knowledge is worth as much as gold!”
The bank manager was smiling and happy because his losses in the share market are now covered by this robbery. This is called “Seizing the opportunity.” Daring to take risks! So who are the real robbers here?

Young and educated Kenya Politician-cause of Kenya down fall

Kenya politics are very interesting , not because of politics chemistry, no but due to our political leaders attitude's. Kenya by all means is a very rich country and I believe if we had true political leaders, we should be on the same level with country like Singapore, which is appears every time our political leaders start talking about our economy.

The story I have heard so many times is that, in mid 1960s, our economy was at par with Singapore and other so called Asia Tiger economy, and around 1970s, our economy was better, its said that some of those countries sent their economic experts to Nairobi to study our economy paper plans.

Just the other day, one of our Governs, Machakos County governor, Alfred Mutua claimed that , Singapore actually implemented those paper plans that were discussed in Kenya, He said "we Kenyans are very good in paper work, but when it comes to implementation, that's all another thing, we shelves those plans and forget.

Agriculture and tourism has been the power behind Kenya economy, in those early years after getting our independence from British, Kenya was exporting coffee, tea, maize and many agricultural products within Africa and other continents. Tourism was a big boom, as Kenya from the word go, made it clear to protect all game reserves and parks, this was done by creation of a department called Kenya Wild Service , which was trained on how to safe guard our forests and animals .

During this periods, our political leaders had love of country Kenya and there was respect to all leaders, starting from village elder who call up a village meeting and villagers would stream to the  venue in no time , to Presidency. The country was managed by well educated men and women who most of them got their education in the west.

Over the years , something went wrong and that's is it, it is still going wrong. During one party rule, the country was in total darkness and no one was willing to switch on the light, as it was under one great Professor of Politics, whom for some reason , we still love and miss Mzee Moi.

May God bless Mzee Moi for holding this country together for so long.

After PNU and Orange parties defeated the mighty KANU, and after some few months, the two parties fall out, what followed was a mode of campaign by both camps.

We started hearing such statements, its time for the young people to take up the leadership of this country, young educated Kenyans offered themselves for all available elective posts.

Kenya national parliament had almost 3/4 of members as lawyers, and this give Kenyans hope that because we have too many lawyers, the country will be steered to the right direction.

This was far above what Kenyans came to realise, because after just few months, members of parliament decided to discuss on how to increase their pay, this was after KRA said , all Kenyans working should pay taxes. from increase salaries this young educated Kenyans thought it was good for the to be driving the top of range vehicles, they came up with a plan to be given soft loan that will help them buy top of ranges of 4X4 vehicles, mostly Prado VXs and V8. This was followed with house loan , entertainment allowances etc.

Each time anything touching on members of parliament welfare was to be discussed, it was very interesting as almost the house was full just in case one of them decides to oppose the bill.

But on the other hand, other government workers started asking for salary increase, but the same members of parliament were first to oppose such move saying it will make all other civil servants  demand salary increase and this will affect the wage bill. Teachers were on longer head with TSC for a long time , demanding an increase of salary which they claimed was agreed back in 1992, by Moi government. The doctors followed and university same.

We all need good salary, but for sure with such a big civil servant, that wage bill was going to kill Kenya economy.

All this is due to electing young leaders whom their first priority is to have a good car, mortgage for his wife and mistress, and a lot of cash for weekends with his/her buddies.

The kind of corruption we are seeing has never been witnessed before, its done in form of billions of shillings, this is a very sad situation which i wonder who will came to our rescue.

The common citizen has to carry the heavy load on his/her shoulder of making these leaders live comfortable . The taxes Kenyans pay makes Kenyans among the heavily taxed workers in the world. Fake food products makes their way to Kenyan market through corrupt means, and Kenyans are made to buy them, small business are target by county officers who have made it a routine to collect money every day from their owners. Hawkers are maimed and killed by county council law enforcers.

Its said 85% of Kenyans working in big town cannot afford three meals per day, most of the avoid Lunch by attending lunch hour church service or just stroll till lunch break is over.

Education is becoming unattainable to many Kenyans, good nursery school are expensive, public primary school education is free, but the quality of education is wanting as teachers keep on striking due to poor pay. Secondary level is damn crazy, good schools are once managed by private institutions like Catholic church, but the cost implication is beyond many Kenyans.

Over several years, young Kenyans have being unable to continue with university education due to payments , thousands drop out midway after failing to raise the required money. This will be an expensive situation in near future as education will be only for the rich, but on the other hand , the poor will find ways to feed themselves in any available means.

Why i regret voting YES for new constitution

President Kibaki , the new constitution was adapted during his tenure
Each time I take a newspaper to read nowadays I immediately froze due to what is printed, similar watching the news or listening the radios, its such a pity for our Nation. The kind of politics we have in Kenya makes one wonder if that's how other countries behave.

This kind of politics makes me wish why we never agreed with then, Minister of Higher Education , now our Deputy President William Ruto, who was saying we should wait and scrutinise the new constitution that was about to be adapted . This was in 2010.
The current constitution has made the country look like its a children playing ground where any child as long you are from the neighbourhood can join and play. When children are playing, you will see them very happy and with a lot of noise, no one is ultimate leader, and anyone can give orders. You will see the team losing crying and shedding tears and sometimes, some of those kinds go on to complain to their parents.
Our Politician do similar thing, each day you wake up you will never miss them in any channel you switch on, newspaper and radio, its them playing their game .
When Deputy President was talking against the news constitution, he was saying there are a lot of grey areas that need more time to understand the chapters outcome.
Deputy President William Ruto was leader of NO camp
Chapter 26, which talks about Right of life was one chapter that made the church and Hon. William Ruto need more clarification. This was because , point number 3 and 4 states- A person shall not be deprived of life intentionally, except to the extent authorised by this Constitution or other written law.
(4) Abortion is not permitted unless, in the opinion of a trained health professional, there is need for emergency treatment, or the life or health of the mother is in danger, or if permitted by any other written law
This was seen like a way of permitting abortions indirect as long a legal procedure is put in place, which I think it has made it impossible to prosecute medics caught doing abortion. This is because the requires the woman involved to be a state witness . As any normal person knows, its not possible for this to happen as the woman will not want to be on spot.
The constitution also has made it impossible for president to handle some matter with speed that it deserves. A good example is when the Deputy Inspector of Police was retired. This was after it was claimed that the way police force ways of operating was wanting and the blame was on the officer whose that role was on, Deputy police IG. To make the matter worse, the opposition started shouting that it was un procedural for President to replace the officer. This was because the officer was from a community that seems to support the opposition, thus it was an entry to try and show that community how the government is harassing them. Remember, this was after report emerged that, the police were slow to react at Garissa University attack, at Garissa bus attack and several attacks in Lamu.

This is not the first time that the President order has being stopped by opposition through means of court injunctions. It seems our opposition all they know is opposing anything the government proposes. From Lap top project to SRG , Police reform to Youths projects and many more.
If you drive in major towns of what is called opposition strong holds, you will be amazed how the county government is working. The roads are getting worn out, the hospitals are ruining out of drugs and Doctors are looking for green pastures in other countries, yet this is what we were told in good devolution.
Raira Odinga-Leader of Opposition
When out great solders were abashed and killed in Somalia, the opposition were at it again claiming that the government sent young solders with no experience. This beats all logic as one may tend to ask, are there solders who are recruited to die and others not, are there department of who is supposed to die and not. Once again turning a very tragic situation in to a political talk.
Thus, if asked, this constitution is not good for our country as it was tailored with some hidden agendas. I recall former President Moi saying. One of the principal authors of the constitution is known world wide to write constitution that later brings chaos to those countries.
The Euro bond saga, and after opposition promised to give names of people who benefited from the said money. I was amazed when we were given names of government officials who were doing their duties. I think benefiting is different from doing job you are employed to do.
This shows all the opposition is out to do, is make it hard and difficult for the government of the day.
Thus I just wish we did heard Deputy President call by then , to VOTE NO.
