Young and educated Kenya Politician-cause of Kenya down fall

Kenya politics are very interesting , not because of politics chemistry, no but due to our political leaders attitude's. Kenya by all means is a very rich country and I believe if we had true political leaders, we should be on the same level with country like Singapore, which is appears every time our political leaders start talking about our economy.

The story I have heard so many times is that, in mid 1960s, our economy was at par with Singapore and other so called Asia Tiger economy, and around 1970s, our economy was better, its said that some of those countries sent their economic experts to Nairobi to study our economy paper plans.

Just the other day, one of our Governs, Machakos County governor, Alfred Mutua claimed that , Singapore actually implemented those paper plans that were discussed in Kenya, He said "we Kenyans are very good in paper work, but when it comes to implementation, that's all another thing, we shelves those plans and forget.

Agriculture and tourism has been the power behind Kenya economy, in those early years after getting our independence from British, Kenya was exporting coffee, tea, maize and many agricultural products within Africa and other continents. Tourism was a big boom, as Kenya from the word go, made it clear to protect all game reserves and parks, this was done by creation of a department called Kenya Wild Service , which was trained on how to safe guard our forests and animals .

During this periods, our political leaders had love of country Kenya and there was respect to all leaders, starting from village elder who call up a village meeting and villagers would stream to the  venue in no time , to Presidency. The country was managed by well educated men and women who most of them got their education in the west.

Over the years , something went wrong and that's is it, it is still going wrong. During one party rule, the country was in total darkness and no one was willing to switch on the light, as it was under one great Professor of Politics, whom for some reason , we still love and miss Mzee Moi.

May God bless Mzee Moi for holding this country together for so long.

After PNU and Orange parties defeated the mighty KANU, and after some few months, the two parties fall out, what followed was a mode of campaign by both camps.

We started hearing such statements, its time for the young people to take up the leadership of this country, young educated Kenyans offered themselves for all available elective posts.

Kenya national parliament had almost 3/4 of members as lawyers, and this give Kenyans hope that because we have too many lawyers, the country will be steered to the right direction.

This was far above what Kenyans came to realise, because after just few months, members of parliament decided to discuss on how to increase their pay, this was after KRA said , all Kenyans working should pay taxes. from increase salaries this young educated Kenyans thought it was good for the to be driving the top of range vehicles, they came up with a plan to be given soft loan that will help them buy top of ranges of 4X4 vehicles, mostly Prado VXs and V8. This was followed with house loan , entertainment allowances etc.

Each time anything touching on members of parliament welfare was to be discussed, it was very interesting as almost the house was full just in case one of them decides to oppose the bill.

But on the other hand, other government workers started asking for salary increase, but the same members of parliament were first to oppose such move saying it will make all other civil servants  demand salary increase and this will affect the wage bill. Teachers were on longer head with TSC for a long time , demanding an increase of salary which they claimed was agreed back in 1992, by Moi government. The doctors followed and university same.

We all need good salary, but for sure with such a big civil servant, that wage bill was going to kill Kenya economy.

All this is due to electing young leaders whom their first priority is to have a good car, mortgage for his wife and mistress, and a lot of cash for weekends with his/her buddies.

The kind of corruption we are seeing has never been witnessed before, its done in form of billions of shillings, this is a very sad situation which i wonder who will came to our rescue.

The common citizen has to carry the heavy load on his/her shoulder of making these leaders live comfortable . The taxes Kenyans pay makes Kenyans among the heavily taxed workers in the world. Fake food products makes their way to Kenyan market through corrupt means, and Kenyans are made to buy them, small business are target by county officers who have made it a routine to collect money every day from their owners. Hawkers are maimed and killed by county council law enforcers.

Its said 85% of Kenyans working in big town cannot afford three meals per day, most of the avoid Lunch by attending lunch hour church service or just stroll till lunch break is over.

Education is becoming unattainable to many Kenyans, good nursery school are expensive, public primary school education is free, but the quality of education is wanting as teachers keep on striking due to poor pay. Secondary level is damn crazy, good schools are once managed by private institutions like Catholic church, but the cost implication is beyond many Kenyans.

Over several years, young Kenyans have being unable to continue with university education due to payments , thousands drop out midway after failing to raise the required money. This will be an expensive situation in near future as education will be only for the rich, but on the other hand , the poor will find ways to feed themselves in any available means.
